Young Artist Program
Ages 11-18
For middle and high school students, we tailor the lesson to your family’s preferences, incorporating options such as Standard and/or Suzuki repertoire, other genres of music include pop and jazz, songwriting, and music theory. Students are encouraged to participate in social music activities including orchestra, chamber music, and music camps.
All cello students in my studio have weekly one-on-one lessons, practice regularly and attend studio recitals and community outreach events. Contact me to learn more and book a trial lesson.
Tuition Includes:
31 lessons between August and June
6 Zoom studio/master classes (Sept–March)
2 recitals per year (If student is in person in LA this will include a piano rehearsal and pianist in the Spring)
Fall and spring parent-teacher meetings
Weekly practice plans with links/videos
Recommendations and extracurricular music program guidance
Summer lessons are optional and may be added on a la carte
My teaching philosophies and principles:
Positive reinforcement: striving for improvement and celebrating achievement while having fun!
Developing fundamental technique, balanced posture, and increased dexterity
Musical awareness using creativity, imagery and storytelling
Increasing patience, focus, and self-confidence
Ear and rhythm training, note reading, and music theory
Learning how to practice by addressing technical checklists to break down challenges
Time management and performance strategies to meet goals including studio recitals and auditions
Tackling nerves and performance anxiety
Encouraging student participation in social music activities such as group playing, camps, and ensembles
Mixing genres for students interested in improvisation
Assisting students with the college application process
